Cordello Elementary School Staff and Students held a memorial assembly on September 11 to remember those whose lives were lost during the attacks on the World Trade Center; Shanksville, Pennsylvania; and the Pentagon 22 years ago. Cordello Principal Dr. Nathaniel Marner led the ceremony as he told the students about the tragic events, then introduced students who read accountings of the day as it unfolded. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sharon A. Dungee welcomed Staff and Students to the assembly and recounted memories of September 11, 2001, when she was Principal of Cordello and Staff members gathered students safely into the school and assisted in the eventual releasing of the children as parents came to the school to take them home later that afternoon and evening. The ceremony concluded with a rendition of God Bless the USA.
