Dear Central Islip Community:                                           

    Please accept this letter as a heartfelt thank you for voting on the 2010-2011 Budget for Central Islip School District, which was approved by the community on May 18, 2010. After holding a number of community budget meetings and after meeting with various community groups; the Board of Education and Administration heard your desires for certain programs to be included for our children. Cognizant of these fiscally-trying times, we have also remained sensitive to our residents’ ability to fund these programs.

    The outcome was a budget that offers a sound educational program for our children, while keeping the projected tax rate increase as low as possible. We were able to sustain all Extracurricular activities, current Transportation distances, Varsity Sports, the Gifted & Talented Program, our prized Music program (Grades 1 – 12), and much more. We have modified our Kindergarten program to a half-day plan and there will continue to be community use of buildings and grounds.

    I assure you that each and every employee of this school district will strive to make  more of an effort, teach for even greater student learning, and work harder toward improvements at every level.  We will deliver educational opportunities to each child in order to attain his or her personal best. We will prove to you that your confidence is well placed and you have invested wisely in your schools, your community and your children’s futures.

I promise we will strive to earn your faith in our abilities and trust in our willingness to serve the children every single day.
